Rosamund sat down with Conde Nast Traveler to discuss her year abroad while filming several films.

Rosamund Pike has spent a busy year shuttling between her home in London and Africa, where she filmed political thriller High Wire Act in Morocco—the latest go-to location for filmmakers (Tangier stands in for Beirut)—and A United Kingdom in Botswana. Based on an epic true love story, Kingdom stars David Oyelowo as Botswana’s first president, Seretse Khama, who stirred up some trouble in the 1940s by marrying a white British woman, Ruth Williams (Pike). The country has been referred to as one of the movie’s main characters, and it’s easy to see why. When Pike came to New York City recently to attend the IWC Schaffhausen’s For the Love of Cinema gala, she took some time to chat with Condé Nast Traveler about her recent travels, family vacations, and her guide to London.

Your career obviously takes you around the world. Do you get inspired by the places you travel?
Yes! I did a film in Morocco and came back thinking all of my bathrooms had to be in Moroccan style. Then you realize there’s a reason that style belongs in a hotter climate and London is utterly different.

Deadline is reporting that “High Wire Act” has added more cast members and is now moving forward with ShivHans Financing. The film is expected to begin filming next month.

Dean Norris, Larry Pine, Shea Whigham and Mark Pellegrino have been added to the cast of High Wire Act, the Tony Gilroy-scripted political action thriller starring Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike. Brad Anderson is directing. The latest movement on this comes as Shivani Rawat’s ShivHans Pictures (Trumbo, Captain Fantastic) has come aboard to produce and finance the pic, which now begins filming next month in Tangier.

Good Universe is handling sales rights and will rep the pic at the upcoming Cannes Film Market. CAA packaged the project and is co-repping domestic rights with WME Global.

High Wire Act‘s plot centers on a former U.S. diplomat called back into service in 1980s Beirut to save a former colleague from the group responsible for his wife’s death. ShivHans’ Rawat and Monica Levinson are joining as producers along with Radar Pictures’ Ted Field and Mike Weber and Gilroy.

ShivHans has Captain Fantastic starring Viggo Mortensen playing in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, and it recently set up the Jack Black-toplined The Man Who Would Be Polka King with Permut Presentations and Red Hour Films. A July start date is planned for that one.

Norris is repped by CAA and Industry Entertainment Partners, Pine by Leading Artists Inc. Whigham is repped by CAA and Principal Entertainment LA and Pellegrino is repped by Framework Entertainment and Domain Talent.
