Character Quotes

Nick Dunne: You fucking cunt!
Amy Dunne: I’m the cunt you married. The only time you liked yourself was when you were trying to be someone this cunt might like. I’m not a quitter, I’m that cunt. I killed for you; who else can say that? You think you’d be happy with a nice Midwestern girl? No way, baby! I’m it.
Nick Dunne: Fuck. You’re delusional. I mean, you’re insane, why would you even want this? Yes, I loved you and then all we did was resent each other, try to control each other. We caused each other pain.
Amy Dunne: That’s marriage.

Amy Dunne: What’s the laptop for?
Nick Dunne: Laptopping!

Amy Dunne: I will practice believing my husband loves me but I could be wrong.

“Director David Fincher and stars Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck are at the top of their game in this mesmerizing adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel.”
Justin Chang , Variety

“The movie is phenomenally gripping-although it does leave you queasy, uncertain what to take away on the subject of men, women, marriage, and the possibility of intimacy from the example of such prodigiously messed-up people.”
David Edelstein, New York Magazine/Vulture

• Rosamund Pike claimed that per David Fincher’s request, she and Neil Patrick Harris spent two hours on set, completely alone, rehearsing their sex scene.

• For her performance, Rosamund Pike drew inspiration from Nicole Kidman’s performance in To Die For and Sharon Stone’s in Basic Instinct. She also studied Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, wife of John F. Kennedy Jr., for her body language and aloof mood.

• David Fincher explained that one of the reasons he cast 35 year old Rosamund Pike as Amy is that she was of ambiguous age in her appearance, and could pass for an older or younger woman.
